2008 Camp Program
ISA's Developmental Camp is very intensive and includes technical, tactical and physiological components, as well as information on nutrition and injury prevention. Technical and tactical sessions are done during the day, while intra-camp competitions are held at night. With that,, the coaches also make sure it is fun...ask any camper who has attended!
Eligible age divisions are determined by birth year. In 2008, the eligible birth years for camp for girls are 1994, 1995, 1996 and 1997. Eligible birth years for boys are 1995, 1996 and 1997.
Goalkeeper training sessions are conducted only once a day. Players who sign up will still attend field training sessions. If interested in goalkeeper training, check the box on the registration form.
Campers are housed two to a room in the air conditioned dormitories on the campus of Grinnell College.
- Roommates are either selected by you, or if you don't have a request, assigned by me. In past years, parents have indicated the roommate selection on the registration form. THIS HAS CHANGED; after registration closes, I will contact you to get your roommate request, and if you don't have one, I'll assign one.

Who should attend?
Developmental Camp is open to all Iowa players who fall within the eligible birth years. It is a demanding camp, but that should not deter any player who is unsure how they stack up against their peers, or is unsure where they want their soccer career to go. This is a great opportunity for recreational through select players to be exposed to a higher level of coaching and expectations, to compete against some of the best players in the state and to have fun while being challenged.
Benefits of ISA's Developmental Camp
- Quality instruction from nationally-licensed coaches
- Further one's development as a player, no matter your level or playing goals.
- Meet and compete against players from across the state.

PARENTS, Volunteer to Chaperone!
- One chaperone is assigned to every 16-18 players, plus there's a head chaperone who is not assigned a group.
- Please note that for risk-management reasons, we only accept female chaperones for the girl's camp; female and male chaperones are accepted for the boy's camp
- Chaperones are assigned a single room on the same floor as their child; children do not room with their chaperone parent.
- Chaperones are not charged any fees!
- You need to be onsite earlier in the day on the first day of camp, and be able to stay throught the end of camp. Days are long and hot, so be forewarned!
- We typically get more volunteers than we can use; if you're selected, you'll need to complete the Volunteer Disclosure Form.
- If interested in chaperoning, check the box on the registration form. You'll hear from me shortly after camp registration closes.

New soccer cleats
- Parents, DO NOT send your player to camp with new cleats that have not yet been broken in; the result will be painful blisters, with your child likely having to sit out of training and games.
- If they are in line to get a new pair of cleats before camp, they need to get them soon and break them in NOW. They also need to bring their old pair with them and make sure they take them to every training session and match; if they start to feel a hot spot on their foot/feet, they need to stop and change into their old cleats immediately!
- Take care of your feet!
